Gaudaal's Lament is a poem by Akorem Laan. It has been taught in Bajoran schools for decades. When Darrah Mace was young, he was punished by Prylar Yilb for breaking the icons in the vestry of the temple school he attended by having to write out Gaudaal's Lament a hundred times. (ST - Terok Nor novel: Day of the Vipers) When Akorem Laan left the wormhole in 2372, Kira Nerys informed him that any Bajoran schoolchild could recite Gaudaal's Lament from memory. (DS9 episode: "Accession") The RPG Player's Guide for the Star Trek Roleplaying Game spells Gaudaal as "Gaudal".
