Anna Stutzman (b. 1998) was the younger daughter of Esther and Walther Stutzman, and the younger sister of Gottlieb. She and the rest of her family were Jews living in secret in Berlin, the capital of the Greater German Reich. Anna was one year older than Alicia Gimpel, her best friend. The Gimpels were another family of secret Jews. Anna and her family were present when, after reaching the age of 10, Alicia was informed of her true heritage. The friendship between Anna and Alicia made it easier for both girls to live with the secret of being Jews.
