The European Commission Directorate General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology (DG Connect) (formerly DG INFSO) is in charge of policy activities on Network and Information Security (NIS) and on Critical Information Infrastructure Protection (CIIP), Electronic Signature Directive, eGovernment, the Safer Internet Programme, the ICT trust and security thematic of the Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development (FP7) the EU Regulatory Framework for Electronic Communications and the Digital Agenda.
