Operating from Torrejón Air Base at Madrid, Colonel Llorente's 453 Escuadrón, the Thunderbolts, performed Close Air Support for Eurofed battlegroups throughout the southern theatre of operations. Equipped with long-range standoff missiles, Llorente's planes could strike targets of opportunity and vanish before enemy air defenses could engage them.
