Akpah Island, along with its slightly larger neighbour Gokpar Island, is located at the edge of the Bay of Raktari, as it joins the sea. At low tide, a causeway connects the island to Fondrop on the mainland, and boats run twice daily to and from the island. The island has a small village on it, and is popular with birdwatchers for the variety of birds that dwell there.
