Reginald "Reggie" Kray (24 October 1933 - 1 October 2000) and his twin brother Ronald "Ronnie" Kray (24 October 1933 - 17 March 1995) were two real life London Gangsters. They were responsible for running crime in the East End of London during the 1950s and 1960s. Their gang was known as "The Firm". Ronnie was responsible for the murder of George Cornell in 1966 and Reggie was responsible for the murder of Jack "The Hat" McVitie in 1967. They were both arrested in 1968 and sentenced to life in prison in 1969. Ronnie was declared insane, and sent to Broadmoor Hospital, where he died of a heart attack in 1995. Reggie was released from prison on compassionate grounds in 2000, due to being diagnosed with terminal cancer. Reggie died a free man on 1 October 2000.
