The Tomes are a set of four book-length sourcebooks. These books are: * The Tome of Necromancy * The Tome of Fiends * The Dungeonomicon * Races of War These sourcebooks have the mission of sanitizing the parts of D&D 3.5 that didn't make sense. The four books focused on the Necromancy rules, the rules for evil outsiders and the lower planes, making dungeons make sense, and bringing fighter types up to the same power level as the casters. As such, some of the material in the Tomes can look significantly different than what you'd find in most 3.5 sourcebooks, and the rules for fighters especially has a different power level than many people are used to. The Same Game Test was the primary reference for balancing this material.
