Dimitri Dewitte started his career as sergeant in the Presidential Guard in January 3645. He got together with Paul Spaak quite often, and got stimulated to actively get involved in politics. A year later he got elected MP. He had to quit his job with the Presidential Guard, taking leave for political reasons. He was Minister of Defence from July 3654 to January 3660, from November 3662 to December 3671 and again from December 3678 to February 3682. On January 7, 3683 he was appointed P&A chairman by Ted Urbain, who decided to quit politics due to severe health problems.
