The Cynics' Party is a satirical weblog focusing on American politics and international relations created in January 2008 by a group of bloggers previously associated with Gawker Media. Megan Carpentier and Greg Wasserstrom, formerly of Wonkette joined with Hunter Walker of Gridskipper after Carpentier and Wasserstrom were relieved of their previous posts despite their popularity with readers. The site launched on January 24, 2008. In it's first week, the site got more than 35,000 page views, with media coverage of Carpentier's firing fueling traffic. The site has numerous other contributors, including Jason Cox and anonymous writers Blogenfreude and TRex, all three of whom were previously prolific Wonkette commenters.
