The pound (£), also referred to as the pound sterling or quid, was the currency of England and Old Britain. It was equal to one hundred pence. Captain Picard used an old Earth adage, "in for a penny, in for a pound", when talking to Data and Riker about delivering a message to Data's "pen pal" in 2365.
