This quest was one of the "appetizers" in the The Rise of the New Singularity Story Arc. If you can survive the fall, much of the dungeon can be skipped by jumping into the pit rather than across it. If you can deal melee damage or magical damage that does not require line-of-sight, you can kill and loot Dirrich through the grates at the bottom of the pit. As long as its corpse is next to the grate you should be able to loot it.
