Daigotsu Gouki was a fierce bushi of the Spider Clan. He displayed contempt for his assignment to the Eternal Danger Islands, believing it was far below his station and experience. Gouki wished to travel to the Colonies and the more worthy challenges that awaited him there. The Imperial administrator Miya Onako typically held the Spider forces in reserve. Gouki was aware of the presence of a Tainted samurai, Daigotsu Toshiro and was distrustful of the man, and decided to watch him, because he belived it was a matter of time before Toshiro decided to betray the Spider.
