The Plum Blossom Gate was the northernmost gate in Zakyo Toshi, the main entrance to the residential section of the city. It was named for the sacred fruit that sustained Shinsei during his fasting, in the hope that this would bring good luck and prosperity to the city. Located just inside the gate, in the residential district, was the One Tree Brewery, the local sake works.
