Tarin IV was a planet located in the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrants, the fourth planet in the Tarin star system in or near the space of the Federation. The Federation starship USS Intrepid II visited Tarin IV in 2296, just over ten days before receiving a distress call from Captain David Rabin on planet Obsidian. (TOS novel: Vulcan's Forge)
