In suiting up for one game with the Chicago Black Hawks in 1952 (during which he kept the opposition scoreless for the period in which he played), the then-45 year old Roberts became the oldest man to play in an NHL game, a record since broken by Gordie Howe and also passed by Chris Chelios. He was the final NHL player active in the 1920s.
