French striker Oumare Tounkara, who is of Guinean descent, joined Bristol Rovers in late February 2013 as a free agent. He was able to sign for the club outside the normal January transfer window due to him having left Parisian side Red Star earlier in the season. He was released at the end of the 2012–13 season on expiry of his short-team deal having played nine times.
