The unnamed Manager showed Mary Taylor and Hayley Cropper round the facilities at the Shawbrooke Country House Hotel as a suitable venue for Roy and Hayley’s wedding. The main ballroom would cost £6,000 (beyond the Croppers' budget) and she found herself more interested in the cheaper "Rocket Suite" which also overlooked a nearby steam railway line, thus pleasing Roy. The controlling Mary though stated that a wedding day was for the bride, not the groom and led Hayley out of the room and away from the somewhat astonished manager.
