The Forty-niners was the name given to the large number of miners that came to Sutter's Mill and the surrounding area to look for gold during the late 1840s in the Old West. This was during a time that came to be known as the California Gold Rush. Gorilla Grodd, Giganta, Sinestro, Solomon Grundy and Captain Cold time traveled back to this period to mine the gold before the Forty-niners arrive.
