Illan is a pseudo-coniferous tree native to Telios Prime. The illan grows to reach heights of 20 meters and more, with straight main body, few branches save for the top 1/5 of the tree, which extends several branches in a spherical manner. These branches become covered with small needle-like leaves, which stay on the tree for a portion of the year, before changing colour, drying out and falling. Once dry, the needles achieve a density ratio that allows them to be carried off into the wind, effectively seeding surrounding areas. The illan is prized for the beautiful wood that it produces and the interesting process by which this wood can be turned into a organometallic compound illan-ta, which is often used for construction due to its extreme structural rigidity.
