Curtis Wade arrives in Virginia City with Charles Ludlow, they are business partners in bringing the Pony Express there. Although equal partners, Wade often found himself playing second fiddle to Ludlow reputation and his animosity towards him grows. This animosity is exacerbated by a reporter who arrives in town and plays Wade against Ludlow for a better story. Wades reputation was that of an Indian killer, he was well known to people that anyone who had a problem he would sort it out which is another reason he is in partnership with Ludlow.
