Belmont-Tower was a publishing company formed in 1971, when Belmont Books (founded in 1960) merged with Tower Books. Belmont-Tower published Harry Turtledove's first two novels, Wereblood and Werenight in 1979. Turtledove's editor at Belmont-Tower insisted that he take a pseudonym as Turtledove was not deemed believable. Believing that Northern names were better, the editor suggested Eric Iverson, a name Turtledove used until 1984.
