The story is told from the perspective of Malcolm Reed, during a neutronic storm while serving on the Enterprise (NX-01). On September 21, 2152, Reed and the remainder of the Enterprise's crew are forced to take refuge in the ship's catwalk (ENT: "The Catwalk").
