The Marlborough general election of 2004 (or formally, the 31st General Election), was held on November 2, 2004 to elect the members of the Marlborouan House of Commons of the 31st Parliament of Marlborough. The Progressive government led by John Kitzhaber lost the election by a wide margin, to a rejuvenated right-wing coalition led by Stockwell Day and became the Prime Minister of Marlborough with a large Parliamentary majority. His opponents suffered their largest electoral reverse since 1981 losing 65 seats to United and other minor parties. Turnout was one of the highest on record at over 84% the largest turnout since 1934.
