It was nicknamed so due to the warships immense size compared to all other warships in the New Republic and Yuuzhan Vong fleets. The nickname fell out of use towards the end of the Second Corellian Insurrection when the GFFA began to build much larger warships than they previously had, although the Galaxy-class still remained the largest class of warship ever built before the 250's ABY.
