Nathan is a Master Grass-type Trainer and member of the Tayka Elite Four. While Tayka Trainers can challenge the Elite Four in any order, Nathan is canonically the first member. He appears to be lazy, as he is always sleeping when you find him and always falls back asleep upon losing.
