The Battle of Fallen Ground was the first battle of the War of Spirits. The Lion did not expect Hida Tsuneo's troops to stand against their charge. Though the Lion carried the day, the victory came at a terrible price. The Lion forces were led by Akodo Ijiasu. The battle near the Lion-Phoenix border prevented Tsuneo from attacking Otosan Uchi and the spirit forces fell back on Kyuden Isawa.
