Yoda was one of the most renowned and powerful Jedi Masters in galactic history, and one of the few Galactic Republic Jedi to survive into the Galactic Civil War. One the Order's most perceptive master, he served as Jedi Grand Master during the Clone Wars and the founding of the Galactic Empire, after which he went into hiding to escape the Jedi Purge. Though Yoda was one of the most respected members of the Order, he was not flawless. It was partly due to his lack of vision (and some would even say arrogance and sense of self-entitlement) that the Jedi Order was destroyed by the Sith Lord: Darth Sidious, and replaced with the Galactic Empire.
