When she was very young, a famine devastated the area, the village was raided by a passing army. Urauko's father stood against them leading the villagers against them, brandishing two lumber axes, and drove of the majority of the bandits, but himself was mortally wounded. He died in Urauko's arms as the full force of the invaders returned with vengeance fuelling them as well as hunger, and they razed the village.
