Technically the first mobile suit to use a physical blade would be the Zaku I, as it used a heat hawk, a heated axe. No animated UC Gundam used a physical blade as standard weaponry. In G Gundam released in 1994, many of the Gundam Fighters used physical blades including Gundam Speigel ,Lumber Gundam, Minaret Gundam, Temjin Gundam, Zeus Gundam, Zebra Gundam, Mermaid Gundam and Arachno Gundam. That would be the first series in which a mobile suit bearing the name Gundam used a solid blade. In Anno Domini, the first Gundam chronologically to use a GN Blade would be the GNY-001 Astraea, though it has never been animated, so the first animated GN Drive Mobile Suit to wield a physical blade would be Exia (which later receives two extra swords, giving it a total of 7 (1 on the arm, 2 optional, t
