The bhut jolokia, also known as ghost pepper, ghost chili, Naga jolokia, and naga ghost chili, is a chili pepper cultivated in Bangladesh and Indian states of Assam, Nagaland and Manipur. It is an hybrid of the C. chinense and C. frutescens genes. On December 26, 2013, the Guinness World Records rated the Carolina Reaper as the world's hottest pepper, moving the ghost chili to third place.
