A concept in Kilrathi religion that stands against the Light of Sivar and seeks to devour souls of warriors. A warrior's soul would be lost in the Great Dark for example when he loses his life during a period when Sivar has rejected them. A corrupted Sivar-Eshrad ceremony is a sign that Sivar is dissatisfied and warriors fear that they will lose their souls if they are killed the following year. To escape this terrible fate, warriors try to reach a temple as soon as possible to make amends to Sivar to be purified.
