Cormaline was a relatively common (and valuable) mineral which was found on many planets across the galaxy. Worlds with rich cormaline deposits included Kabrel II, Koltaari, Ocampa, and Torga IV. In the 2310s, the abundant cormaline deposits on Koltaari made them a target of the Romulan Star Empire. (TLE novel: Serpents Among the Ruins) In the Delta Quadrant, the Kazon-Ogla operated a cormaline mining camp on Ocampa, and would often trade the substance with neighboring Kazon sects.
