The Declaration of Independence was still remembered in one alternate by the states of North America well into the 21st Century, particularly by the original 13 colonies, and the various nations that existed after the United States fell apart in the early 1800s. Crosstimers such as Justin Monroe were frustrated by the fact that few states actually adhered to the spirit of the Declaration.
