The wall was stated to be on the edge of the Promethean Galaxy (once Universe and Multiverse but been retcon). Beyond the wall lies what is known as the Source, a cosmic source or being that is the "Source" of all that exists. The wall is theoretically passable. However, all those who have tried (Basically couldn't go through) have been inevitably trapped in it.
