Artex Manufacturing Company was a company that produced sports and casual wear for the mass market. Artex was a subsidiary of Jostens, a company best known for making class rings for high school and college students. Artex produced a line of screen-printed Muppet T-shirts and sweatshirts from 1981 to 1984, and Dark Crystal T-shirts in 1982. The Muppet line used illustrations by Daryl Cagle. The company was acquired by Fruit of the Loom in 1994, and discontinued operations shortly thereafter.
