Melanie Quinn was a shop assistant at Firman's Freezers who was roped in by Curly Watts into persuading Reg Holdsworth that his new toupee was not worthy of mention. Curly and Melanie pre-arranged that he would ask her to show a nervous Reg the new display of pavlovas that she had designed, complete with fake snow. Managing to keep the straightest of faces, she informed Reg that the customers were pleased by the display and the sales were up. Behind Reg's back, Curly congratulated Melanie on her performance and she informed him that she'd told her colleagues not to laugh at the newly-hirsute manager. However, neither she nor the other girls could keep a grin off their faces as they watched Reg go about his business in the ailes.
