The Nine Days of Mourning was a tradition on the world of Bellassa that followed the death of a loved one. The friends and family would congregate at the house of the parents of the deceased (the latest arrival would always take the seat next to the grieving mother) and stay with them for the term of nine days, then they rotated visits for a period of nine weeks.
