Harrison Ford was born into the wealthy Ford family on July 13, 1942. In 1960 he entered Northwestern University and studied political science and international relations. He stayed at Northwestern until 1968, during that time period, he won three medals in mock trial, and one trophy in wrestling. However, upon leaving college, the Financial Crisis of 1969 occurred, and he found it hard to find a job of any kind. Ford, running out of options, was forced to join the US Army.
