Paul Hamilton played two roles in Coronation Street: in October 1977 he appeared as one of two Rugby Players who pushed a little old lady called Fay towards the stage of the Gatsby Club when Ralph Lancaster appealed for a piano player to replace Ernest Bishop who had to cry off due to having injured his hand. Eighteen months later in March 1979 he reappeared as Jack Hollis, one of the firemen sent to attend the disaster when a lorry ploughed into the Rovers Return Inn, injuring several of the drinkers and apparently burying Tracy Langton under a load of shed timber.
