USS Menahga (NCC-3100) was the lead ship and prototype for the Menahga-class heavy destroyers. That class would be on active duty in Starfleet during at least the late 23rd century. The prototype — with a registry of NCP-3100 — was designated a "tactical battlecruiser." The ship and class would later be redesignated as "heavy destroyers." Presumably, NCP stood for Naval Construction Prototype. Menahga was commissioned on stardate 8103.23 (circa 2282). (Federation Reference Series 3)
