Cadig Aval was a Dog-Runner ghost, who was the guardian of the Azath House in Omtose Phellack. He had blond hair, which was almost colourless, and a tawny, tangled beard that looked like a tuft of dead grass growing from his chinless jaw. His eye sockets were empty pits beneath the heavy ridge of his brow. And he had a hole carved into his broad chest, where his heart should have been.
