A Moving Target Indicator is a pulsed sensor signal used by every spacefaring race and people such as the Systems Commonwealth, Nietzscheans, and many others that detects moving targets by measuring changes in the return signal doppler effect over time; in essence an extremely advanced and perfected descendant of radar adapted for multiple environments. It is useless against stationary targets or targets that are moving parallel to the sensor, because those are the 2 situations where it is impossible to measure the target's distance, which completely foils the Indicator.
