Toal was one of Lord Marshal Zhylaw's top-ranked commanders in the entire Necromonger Empire. He was a prime candidate to peacefully succeed Zhylaw before he was killed by Riddick. Commander Toal was tasked to hunt down and kill Riddick after it was discovered that he was on the Basilica when they left Helion Prime. Toal failed that task, because Riddick confronted and challenged Lord Marshal before he had a chance. After Riddick took over the position of Lord Marshal, Toal with other Necromongers bent a knee and followed him. He was seen still alive during Riddick's coronation.
