Kehjiste is the native language of Kehjistan. No close linguistic relatives have been found. Thanks to the increasing prevalence of English as a first language in Kehjistan, the Kehjiste language is beginning to die out, resulting in government initiatives to encourage its use. Generally, if the last letter in a word is a vowel, the accent is on the next-to-last syllable. If the last letter is a consonant, the accent is on the last and third-from-last syllable. If the accent is on a different syllable than what the last letter would indicate, the accent is indicated by a double letter.
