Chaur (younger) was the infant son of Barathol Mekhar and his wife, Scillara, who lived in a row-house in the Gadrobi District of Darujhistan, Genabackis. The child had been named after Barathol's dear friend and companion, Chaur - who Scillara had also known well. When Barathol looked upon his son, he wondered that he could ever have been gifted with "such a treasure".
