The 1989 Mother’s Cookies A’s set was a team issue baseball card set. The cards were given away at an A’s home game sometime during the 1989 season. The cards are standard sized and (like most Mother’s sets) feature full bleed photographs on the card fronts. The 28-card set features all the active players on the team, as well as the trainers, coaching staff, and a card with the Oakland Coliseum that serves as a checklist. The cards were given out for free in 20 card starter sets to those attending the game. Collectors were encouraged to trade with their friends to make a whole set. The most notable card is #28, featuring all three Rookie of the Year winners for the A’s Mark McGwire, Jose Canseco and Walt Weiss.
