A sessica was a musical instrument in Triexian culture, similar to a flute with a curved mouthpiece and multiple mouths. The sessica produced long, deep tones like those of an oboe, but having much greater range in the upper registers. The sessica was traditionally used to perform the Song of Heritage, as part of the Contemplation in honor of the dying. Lieutenant Arex Na Eth was an accomplished sessica player and possessed several sessicas. Certain sessicas were used for different songs, others only on special occasions or days of the week.
