Nicoleta Daniela Sofronie was born on February 12, 1988 in Constanta, Romania. Sofronie was a member of the 2004 Romania Olympic team where she won gold in the women's artistic gymnastics team event and bronze on the floor exercise. Sofronie retired from competitive gymnastics in 2005 and now works as an assistant coach in Constanta.
