Nominations have been announced for The Sunday Times Sportswomen of the Year Awards 2009 and World Champion Gemma Spofforth and World silver medallist Fran Halsall UK / United Kingdom (also known as ) File:Flag of the United Kingdom.svg have been shortlisted for the prestigious awards. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at The David Beckham Academy on Tuesday 3rd November, 2009. Now in their 22nd year, the awards recognise the whole spectrum of female sporting success from leading sportswomen through to rising stars, to those working behind the scenes. The 2009 nominees are:
