The 294th was formed shortly after the Battle of Yavin by Imperial General Marcus Tynes and his brother Jonas Tynes. The Legion was made specifically for the purpose of hunting down Rebels and other embedded insurgents. Jonas Tynes was placed in command and quickly began requesting the best recruites coming out of the Imperial Academy. In order to outfit itself with better weapons, Marcus Tynes was able to obtain a number of weapon designs made by Duulan Weapons Research and Development which had been shut down by the Empire after the Clone Wars. Tynes was able to get imperial weapons builders to began producing many of these weapons. Despite the promise the group showed, it was often overlooked by Imperial Command, and wasn't brought into service right away.
